Abstract

Although entrepreneurship is widely regarded as a key driver of economic growth, the actual rate of entrepreneurial action in Indonesia, including in Tasikmalaya City, remains comparatively low. This study set out to map the levels of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (ESE), Individual Entrepreneurial Orientation (IEO), and Entrepreneurial Action (EA) among MSME actors in Tasikmalaya City, and to examine how ESE and IEO shape EA. A quantitative, descriptive-verificative design was applied. A five-point Likert questionnaire was administered to 395 purposively selected MSME actors; following data cleaning, 382 responses were retained for analysis using descriptive statistics, classical assumption testing, and multiple linear regression in IBM SPSS. All three variables (ESE, IEO, and EA) were found to sit in the high category. Both ESE and IEO exerted a positive, significant partial effect on EA, and together they significantly predicted EA, accounting for a substantial share of its variance. Taken together, the findings suggest that self-belief and personal entrepreneurial orientation function as complementary psychological drivers of real entrepreneurial behavior, and point to the value of entrepreneurship development programs that pair psychological capacity-building with external support such as capital access and business networking.
