System Quality and Intensity of QRIS Utilization with the Role of Transaction Efficiency in Student Financial Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
The development of digital payment systems through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) has changed people's transaction patterns, including among students. This study aims to analyze the effect of system quality and intensity of QRIS utilization on student financial management, with transaction efficiency as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to 136 QRIS student users selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that system quality had a positive and significant effect on transaction efficiency (β = 0.574; p < 0.001), and the intensity of QRIS utilization also had a positive and significant effect on transaction efficiency (β = 0.292; p < 0.001). However, transaction efficiency did not significantly affect student financial management (β = -0.005; p = 0.973). In addition, system quality and intensity of QRIS utilization also did not directly affect student financial management. The results of the mediation test indicate that transaction efficiency is unable to mediate the relationship between system quality and intensity of QRIS utilization on student financial management. This finding indicates that the benefits of QRIS are more dominant in improving operational transaction efficiency than in developing financial management behavior. This study contributes to the development of digital payment systems literature by demonstrating that the success of payment technology does not automatically improve the quality of individual financial management. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of financial literacy and self-control as supporting factors in realizing better financial behavior in the digital payment era..
