Abstract
The rapid development of social media has increased adolescents' tendency to experience Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), a psychological condition characterized by anxiety about missing information or social experiences. One internal factor presumed to influence FoMO is the personality trait of neuroticism, which reflects emotional instability and a tendency to experience negative emotions. This study aimed to examine the effect of neuroticism personality on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among adolescents at State Senior High School 1 Purwosari. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 1,256 students, and 303 respondents were selected using the Slovin formula with convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Neuroticism Scale and the Fear of Missing Out Scale. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality testing, linearity testing, and simple linear regression. The findings revealed that neuroticism had a positive and significant effect on FoMO (R = 0.581; R² = 0.338; p < 0.001), indicating that neuroticism contributed 33.8% to the variance in FoMO. The regression equation (Y = 29.404 + 0.461X) showed that higher levels of neuroticism were associated with higher Indonesia jugalevels of FoMO. These findings suggest that neuroticism is an important psychological predictor of FoMO among adolescents.
